Workshop Fun!

This is Shannon. She loves bunnies and this is her story quilt at our retreat in West Virginia. It made us all happy!

 

This is Mary and she is doing a self portrait.

Here is her self portrait and it is progressing quit nicely! Her cat "Miss Kitty" is a calico cat.

 

Shannon decided she needed to do a self portrait too. This is the beginning. Looks just like her so far. 

 

Now she is really starting to take shape on a fun way. Stay tuned. We have one more day.

 

This is Carolyn's lady. She has the perfect hair fabric plus some class secrets to making great self portraits. Lots of fun for all of us!

 

I had a little time and so I am going to do a farm girl and this is the beginning. I have great plans for this girl! Hee Hee.

GOOD news! It is $50 less than posted. So it is $600.

I had planned on taking people on a cruise on Coeur d'Alene Lake but I cannot get it together with their schedule.

So we will go on a field trip to Coeur d'Alene in Idaho which is 30 minutes from me.We will visit the Coeur d'Alene Hotel for Lunch and the quilt shop there and here in the Valley (Hattie's).

Miss Tina is flying in to cook and bake for us again. Her food is always delicious and fun! We will give the recipes out afterwards as people always ask.

 Letting ideas and approaches will be taught...its easy and fun. Sandy from Canada did this sample

 Sandy below from Montana won first place with the story quilt she did at the retreat. This happens alot!

Mary Linfesty did the cow below. She does amazing work every single year and she is in charge of the block swap we do now and again.

 Quilt below and below that are by Charlotte from Florida. Her sister is Laura. I call them the Bunny sisters.

This is Charlotte's husband painting his house and his nephew playing the sax to entertain him. Hee hee.

 This was a free form piecing project.

Fuzzy but still fun. Laura did this one too.

Susan White is a wonderful artist and made these blocks to go with her quilt about them building their own home

I think Laura did this quilt about her Grandson. You can see that they love story quilts and they do them so well. Think of the Legacy they are leaving for their children and Grandchildren

Miss Tina and I wanted a fun theme and this chicken fits the bill! Tina will be doing a recipe book of the things she cooks as requested in other years! I am drawing up a chicken that would make a great quilt like this one!

       At both retreats we will be doing a self portrait from patterns I will be bringing. This is a portrait of who you imagine yourself to be and it is a lot of fun! Imagine hats, things on your shoulders like cats or your city scape etc. the background fabric can be part of the story too! They are loads of fun to do!

This is before it was quilted and embellished. Really fun. She has a collar now and little bird on her shoulder plus color in her cheeks. All this will be discussed!

Crunch Time Cookies! Great with hot coffee or milk!

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 large egg

1 test vanilla

Cream the above together well

Now add these to cream mixture

1/2 cup cocoanut

1 cup rice crispies 

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 cup oatmeal

1/2 cup pecans

Mix well and shape into balls for cookies. Put on parchment or greased cookie sheet. 

Flatten with floured fork. 

Bake 350 degrees 12 to 15 minutes depending on your oven. Less time makes your cookies softer. Delish!!!
