A Wonderful week ahead and colorful photo of Story quilts and a great idea!

I am packing to go to Maui and my brother in law is coming to house sit so things are keen!
I will be having fun with three others friends as we quilt and talk superbowl! ( I am from Hawk territory) and I am taking my camera and I am ready for fun in the sun and relaxation!
This week I put alot of photos on my Facebook pages. It was fun. The quilt above is of the Quilters retirement home. Pretty fun no? It has all kinds of quilters and a Grandma and a guy trying to come in and my Grandkids are birds and a cool which we know we need.
Who says houses need to be straight up and boring? I am teaching Hoity Toity houses this year in many locations and we can do some pretty fun and creative neighborhoods!

I have cats here and there and everywhere in my quilts though I am now allergic to them. Sigh
I have been Lattegirl for 18 years!
The quilt below is owned by Mel now. It is alot of color and fun!
McGregors Garden makes me happy because I adore McGregor my Grandson
Another cat block floating around....Stay tuned for booklet on dogs and cats

The quilt below is titled "I miss the 60's." And I sort of do. It was alot of fun and art was in and bright clothes. I didn't get mixed up in the bad stuff and loved to paint and dance and shop!
Wouldn't this guy make a great quilt???
And lastly I wanted to share this idea. This is a lovely lady who had some health issues in my class I was teaching. So I showed the class how to make hearts and when she wasn't looking I asked each girls to make a pretty heart with pink in it. So as the class finished we gave her the blocks and we all felt good and so did she.
Think about how you can bless people daily. It makes you feel good and them too.
AND be greatful for your many blessings. Remember "Gratitude and Unhappiness cannot co-exist!"
Have a great week and I will be posting photos from the islands.
Hope you get OUT of the box and start making new happy colored, Story quilts!

Makes me Smile!

This wonderful quilt was started in my Asilomar Workshop. Nancy Donahoe had visited Antarctica and just loved the darling penguins. She began with the top middle penguin and added two more and herself along with camera and binoculars. I love everything about this Story quilt! It's pretty and great design and happy colors and fun to see! Nancy said she covered the whole thing with crystals. This is sure to be a winner and even better a quilt her family will always treasure. Great job Nancy!
My cousin Lance who lived in Africa Twelve years is now back and bought a condo in Seattle. He sent me this photo of his bedroom and a quilt I made for him before he left. Looks happy on the wall, right?
This is a drawing done during the war of my Incle Earl Lovick. Someone in Egypt was very talented. This hung in my Grandmothers home for many years and I have always loved it.
We're coming up on my birthday and everyday I dream of lemon meringue pie. My Mother made the best and I got one each year. I sure miss her and her touched. 😘
I was way behind in finishing my owls for our block swap and so Connie my neighbor came over to help me catch up. Phew. It was a lot of fun! Owls always make me smile.
Thought I would end with this happy couple. I noticed after the fact they each had wine glasses. Maybe their noses should be radishes. Haha

Bunny Sisters At Road to California

Charlotte from Florida and Laura from Tx are my fan club leaders and the best story quilters ever! A lady from the Temecula guild named Shirley gave me this photo! Love it. The quilt is by Jane who wrote the tortilla quilt book. I am having a senior moment.
Friday was National pie day- but I am saying it is all week long! What's your favorite pie? Mine is right above and second is below.
Hope your week is great. I am continuing work on self portraits and my John C Campbell quilt! Such fun!

It's a NEW Year- Hooray for happy things coming....

I am starting four self portrait samples for a workshop I am going to be teaching. This one still needs some paint and her collar and a few other touches before she is quilted and then embellishes. they are so much fun!
I have ordered tons of fabric that I use in my quilts and then I can just have them here for your too. I only order what I would buy in shops for me. Once my new website is up and the fabric arrives we can begin sharing. Such fun!

I have to say that I am getting my MOJO back again. I felt like my brains have been scrambles egges since Mark was diagnosed with brain cancer and then he passed away and I just could not think! Being creative was out of the question because I think I was in shock. Now I have been home for awhile and had time to process and get things going again. Phew
This week I have alot of fun creating and getting things going for classes and new ideas.
The BEST news is I have a new website developer who is doing a new site for me and I will be selling books, new patterns, fabrics that I use in my quilts and some quilts too.
I am relieved to know that all of this is in great hands!
I have been looking through files and deleting alot of stuff. I found this and thought what a funny quilt it would make-bring on those funny story quilts!
Love this quilt that was made from my Out of the Box with Easy Blocks book. Valentines will be soon!
Here is my sample from the book. I have this up during this time of year for fun. I do love YOU dear reader.
Speaking of Love here is a photo of me and my cousin Linda who everyone in the family was crazy about. Note the bangs. I hated that photo my whole life and found nothing but fault. Now I love it and see me as my younger self. It is great being older and happy with yourself!
Here is our family crest- two little Irish girls....freckles too

By the way I am on Facebook and would love you to be my friend. I share alot of funny things there too
Aunt Dafne's Melt in Your Mouth Cornbread
1/2 cup butter
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. soda
1 cup yellow corn meal
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Melt butter, add sugar.
Stir well. Add eggs and beat until blended.Add sugar to eggs. Combine buttermilk and soda, then stir into sugar/egg mixture. Add cornmeal, flour, and salt. Stir until just blended. Pour into greased 8 x8 inch pan. Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes. This is delicious with any soup or stew or meat. A family favorite here.

How is this for a great story quilt idea? Maybe they could all be mismatched. Haha
Kermit needs a coat!
How would you like a coat like this? What would your friends say?

So I have taken my angel block of the month back out and started embellishing the little people on it. They all have fun faces now. Available at Marylouweidman.com
Fpr those of you who wrote and asked me about my bird workshop...here is a little sample. I did a block swap with my hoochy girls and then Connie and I joined them together. The Flower Power book has great birds on the pages and good news, I am working on a new Hoochy style book that has more birds, dogs, cats, houses, hats and fun! Should be out by March. Yes, there will be some drawings in there too.
And the Moose pattern will be coming out around then also. :0)
I have cut back on my Starbucks because I dicovered San Francisco coffee at Costco for my Keurig machine and it is wonderful. I feel like I can make a good drink cheaper and don't have to get in the car. :0) And the cups are biodegradable and not all of that plastic-ick.
Planning another trip to New Mexico in May and cannot wait to begin another quilt based on what I see there! SO much fun to sit and sew in such a beautiful place!
How many ideas do you think there are for snowmen quilts? This needs to be a quilt class!
I am inspired to do anew quilt all about my Aunts from both sides of my family. Will make a great story quilt sample. If you are taking a story quilt class from me this year then just wait! I have great ideas and new avenues for us to be creative and fun!
I think this is very funny and wanted to share it with you!
And finally below is a cartoon I debated on sharing but it made me laugh so hard and I enjoyed the funniness of it, I had to share! Thank you for visiting here friend.
