A New Day

Today Mark called early to bring a t-shirt and shorts so he didn't have to wear a gown.
He has been wearing a beautiful robe that Mel gave him the last cancer surgery that he had in November. He is enjoying ordering his meals but hates being hooked up to so many machines. I am amazed he is not sleeping more. He is alert and interested in everyone who works at the hospital and knows all of their names, how many kids they have, where they live in town etc. This is him!
Tomorrow night, he gets to come home and Friday we get his lab results and then get our schedule for radiation and chemo.
I am making plans on how to pay the bills and am hoping to get three more jobs this year and a few the beginning of next year. Before, I bought groceries and things for the house and mad money. Those days are gone. It is OK because I have Mark.
He had to quit his job yesterday and he is still kind of sad about that but relieved too.
We are learning about social security and medicare. Wow. This all happened three days ago and our lives are turned upside down.
We have put our hope and Fatih in God and know that He can help us in everything we need. Please pray for us. We are going to need prayer for sure and hope our friends will remember us.
Life is beautiful and we have no promises. It is green and fresh outside after the rain. I am enjoying Mark's brother Rich who is here and has worked in hospitals for years. He knows so much about all of this. And the best part is he loves his brother so very much. Me too!
Count your many blessings today...there is so much to think about and be thankful for.....

  3. Wonderful to hear that Mark is doing so well and in such good spirits.
We have had many moments where we had no money and always made it through, strong faith is a powerful gift to get us through the tough times. I grew up in a house of 8 kids, so I learned how to penny pinch. Continued prayers for you both.

  6. Praying for you both. Life is certainly unpredictable! I have never had the privilege of taking one of your classes (I have always wanted to come to your Post Falls retreat but I work in a school and June is crazy!)but I do enjoy your blog and know you are a very positive person. Praying you will have the support you need to stay positive through another journey.

  10. Still praying for you..health, happiness and plenty of money to meet all of your obligations with lots to spare. I would think your quilts would sell like crazy. If you don't want to sell them, you can list items on www.society6.com for free. You enter your photos and they make stationery, prints, phone covers, pillows and more. You get a percentage and, other than entering the photos, you don't have to do anything. They ship and all of it. My daughter sells on Society6. If you think you might want to do that, email me and I'll get you in touch with her and she will help you get started. Your images are so great and you have so many fans! I would love stationery or prints of your quilts! I'm sure many other people would too! Take care and remember (my personal slogan that I think I came up with) "That which does not kill you makes you funnier". XO Bev

  12. I am going on 7yrs out with breast cancer. God was so good in teaching me that no matter what I am fine in Him.................as well with my hubby and family. He provides all we need. Keep in Him/His Word. He does not fail us. It sounds like your dear hubby is such a blessing to the workers at the hospital..................Oh, how that is needed. Let your Light of Christ in you shine for all to see. Climb up in His lap and tell him all. Joan

  13. Dear Mary Lou, You and Mark are in my prayers and in those of our prayer chain. Aren't we blessed to live in this time? God chose it just for us. Years ago, cancer meant death. Now we have so many treatments to choose from. Tailor made to fit our cancer and our bodies. Both my husband and I are fighting this disease. His is no longer detectible, wonderful as it was very aggressive. I've just finished my second round of radiation and had 2 surgeries for thyroid cancer. Since it is in my lymph nodes, treatment is more aggressive. Still, I know that I am in the very palm of the Father's hand, sheltered and loved. What more could we ask. I'm praying that you feel His love and comfort as you care for Mark. And for showers of blessings to rain down on you daily.... Blessings, MaryJo
