It's a NEW Year- Hooray for happy things coming....

I am starting four self portrait samples for a workshop I am going to be teaching. This one still needs some paint and her collar and a few other touches before she is quilted and then embellishes. they are so much fun!
I have ordered tons of fabric that I use in my quilts and then I can just have them here for your too. I only order what I would buy in shops for me. Once my new website is up and the fabric arrives we can begin sharing. Such fun!

I have to say that I am getting my MOJO back again. I felt like my brains have been scrambles egges since Mark was diagnosed with brain cancer and then he passed away and I just could not think! Being creative was out of the question because I think I was in shock. Now I have been home for awhile and had time to process and get things going again. Phew
This week I have alot of fun creating and getting things going for classes and new ideas.
The BEST news is I have a new website developer who is doing a new site for me and I will be selling books, new patterns, fabrics that I use in my quilts and some quilts too.
I am relieved to know that all of this is in great hands!
I have been looking through files and deleting alot of stuff. I found this and thought what a funny quilt it would make-bring on those funny story quilts!
Love this quilt that was made from my Out of the Box with Easy Blocks book. Valentines will be soon!
Here is my sample from the book. I have this up during this time of year for fun. I do love YOU dear reader.
Speaking of Love here is a photo of me and my cousin Linda who everyone in the family was crazy about. Note the bangs. I hated that photo my whole life and found nothing but fault. Now I love it and see me as my younger self. It is great being older and happy with yourself!
Here is our family crest- two little Irish girls....freckles too
-------------------------------
By the way I am on Facebook and would love you to be my friend. I share alot of funny things there too
Aunt Dafne's Melt in Your Mouth Cornbread
1/2 cup butter
2/3 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 tsp. soda
1 cup yellow corn meal
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
Melt butter, add sugar.
Stir well. Add eggs and beat until blended.Add sugar to eggs. Combine buttermilk and soda, then stir into sugar/egg mixture. Add cornmeal, flour, and salt. Stir until just blended. Pour into greased 8 x8 inch pan. Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes. This is delicious with any soup or stew or meat. A family favorite here.

How is this for a great story quilt idea? Maybe they could all be mismatched. Haha
Kermit needs a coat!
How would you like a coat like this? What would your friends say?

So I have taken my angel block of the month back out and started embellishing the little people on it. They all have fun faces now. Available at Marylouweidman.com
Fpr those of you who wrote and asked me about my bird workshop...here is a little sample. I did a block swap with my hoochy girls and then Connie and I joined them together. The Flower Power book has great birds on the pages and good news, I am working on a new Hoochy style book that has more birds, dogs, cats, houses, hats and fun! Should be out by March. Yes, there will be some drawings in there too.
And the Moose pattern will be coming out around then also. :0)
I have cut back on my Starbucks because I dicovered San Francisco coffee at Costco for my Keurig machine and it is wonderful. I feel like I can make a good drink cheaper and don't have to get in the car. :0) And the cups are biodegradable and not all of that plastic-ick.
Planning another trip to New Mexico in May and cannot wait to begin another quilt based on what I see there! SO much fun to sit and sew in such a beautiful place!
How many ideas do you think there are for snowmen quilts? This needs to be a quilt class!
I am inspired to do anew quilt all about my Aunts from both sides of my family. Will make a great story quilt sample. If you are taking a story quilt class from me this year then just wait! I have great ideas and new avenues for us to be creative and fun!
I think this is very funny and wanted to share it with you!
And finally below is a cartoon I debated on sharing but it made me laugh so hard and I enjoyed the funniness of it, I had to share! Thank you for visiting here friend.

  1. I am happy to hear that you have had time to relax and process the past year, it has been tough for you and I hope the new year is filled with joys and good friends. I think I had bangs like that, lol.

It's so nice to see all the bright, happy colors and ideas for new quilts - especially the snowmen. Thanks, too, for sharing all the cartoons and sayings - you always find the most thought-provoking and heart warming pictures.
